Hello Kitty Cheese Stick Apology

I'm sorry I haven't updated for a whole seven days. Things became quite busy! So today's decorated lunch is Hello Kitty apologizing, because Hello Kitty makes everyone happy, even if they've been abandoned for a week.

Forgetful

Do you remember that one strange kid in school that always seemed to have forgotten his or her coat, lunch, permission slip, homework, etc? That was me. And guess what I forgot today?

Honestly, most people mastered the idea of a morning routine in elementary school. But not me! I still find myself walking out of my house with no shoes, or forgetting my coat, or wandering aimlessly around my house because I can't figure out the idea of getting dressed and leaving. It reminds me of the express "I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached", or something to that effect. That's me. Headless save for my neck.

Almond milk

I'm sorry I didn't have a post for you folk on Friday. I was quite busy and feeling the stress more than usual, and I didn't have time to decorate or even eat my lunch.
But now it's Monday, and it's a good Monday, too, because I have milk for my tea. Tea, especially cinnamon and cardamon tea, without milk is truly a sad thing. I particularly love almond milk, too, although I like soy as well. (I don't drink cow milk, in case the aforementioned wasn't enough of a clue.) Over the weekend I got a fresh carton of almond milk for the office, so I'm having a fantastic Monday tea-time!
You can make your own almond milk, by the way, but the carton is easier for me at the office than to keep a blender and almonds around.

Here's a cheese-stick drawing, too:

I haven't even had time to get more eggs for my lunch! Eeep! After I ate this I thought I should have written something in that middle space, like "Happy Monday!" But I didn't. So Happy Monday!

But cheese is also delicious.

Cupcakes

Today I have a bunch of cupcakes to make. Since it's spring, with Easter coming, I am making a lot of different flowers out of airhead candies, eggs, baskets with jelly beans in them... In short, my lunch was mostly neglected. I did draw a happy little face on him though.

Hopefully I'll have time to take a photo of the cupcakes before the kids eat them!

(I did!)

Autism Awareness or Puzzles

I've been seeing a lot of autism awareness related posts. I don't much go in for dividing months up into various causes, so I'm not sure when "autism awareness month" is or anything, but like many good causes it deserves some recognition. And that's why we have social media, I guess. Either way, the puzzle emblems made me wonder how difficult a puzzle egg would be?

Very difficult, it turns out. I think if I had started with a white egg it might have been easier. But no, probably not.

Regardless of cause or artistic merit way, it was delicious!

Silent Spring?

Today is wet and rainy. It made me think of the birdsong you hear on nice days, so I decided to draw some birds and songs:

If you're curious, the music notes are lines from "you are my sunshine", because when you realize the irony of drawing birds on an egg you're about to eat, it's hard to reign yourself in.

It did make me think of that book, Silent Spring, which I have heard of but never read. It set off the "ecofriendly" art movement. I don't take a stance, really, either way. I try to tread lightly wherever I go. But it did inspire this post title.

It was ironically delicious!

Lines and tattoos

I had a speckled brown egg today, and I thought I'd draw something kind of tribal-tattoo like on it, but then I started drawing and decided that I am utterly hopeless without an eraser. Tribal tattoos are hard! So I just did this instead. This weird little pattern is something I find myself doodling a lot. It has a calming effect, with all the swirls. Or that's what I tell myself.

It was calmly delicious!

Green Circles

I had an idea for this, but it was one of those ideas that was only really half-formed.

All I can really say is, I'm sorry? Are your eyes ok?

But it was still tasty!

Doodles

I didn't really have an idea for today. Considering how my "idea" turned out yesterday, my brain was probably just trying to recover. So I doodled.

I thought it looked pretty nice. Well, one side of it, anyway, haha. I do love random patterns. I always thought it would be interesting to be one of those people who design patterns for fabrics. Especially when I go into a restaurant or somewhere with very interesting upholstery.

But, back to lunch, which was delicious.

Not everything works out, haha

Today is a good example of how sometimes a good idea doesn't execute well. I had an idea to draw a lovely, lacy butterfly, resting on a background of calming swirls of color. Since I was drawing on a white egg today, I needed to draw in relief, or in other words, I needed to put color everywhere except on the butterfly wings. It started out as a great idea in my head, but...

...it ended up as some kind of drug-fueled raging with markers. But I laughed anyway. Not everything works out, which is a good thing to keep in mind. Don't take yourself too seriously and all that. Besides...

...it was still delicious.

Comparison

Look at these two eggs. See how the brown one is pretty round, while the blue/green one is more like a torpedo shape? I always find that interesting. Every single egg is different. They even have different textures. The brown one has a rougher texture, while the blue/green one is quite smooth.

If you find this totally boring: close your eyes. Breathe deeply. The world is full of interesting things. Don't close your mind to them. :)

City Lights - Cheesy

I've always loved city skylines. I don't actually want to be in a city, or even very close to one, but I like to look at photos. This obviously doesn't represent any specific city or skyline.

It was also delicious!

Rainbow eggs, and also a cat

I got a fresh carton of eggs from my mother. Mmm, farm fresh eggs are so wonderful. If you have anyone near you that raises chickens, you should try some fresh eggs. There is a difference, I swear!

However, like most children, I am never satisfied.  When I opened my carton of free, farm-fresh eggs, I saw this:

I said, "What?! No white ones?" See, white eggs are easier to color on. (Not that that is always a good thing, as you likely noticed.) Even so, after cooking up a few I was too hungry to even draw on the egg before I ate it. It was yummy, though! Since I didn't take a photo of it, here's a photo of my cat rolling on the sidewalk instead. That's a fair substitute, right?
